Outfit Outtakes by Jen Bou

Snow Storm

Happy Halloween everyone! For those readers who live in the Northeast, I’m sure you experienced the freak snow storm Saturday evening. It was insane! Many homes lost power and there were trees that had fallen in the road. To say the least, it was definitely not what we would expect for the end of October. But then again, this is New England.

Snowy background!
Yesterday I got together with some relatives for a birthday lunch to celebrate my mom turning “29” and my sister turning 18. It’s crazy how time flies. Since the temperature dropped, I decided to layer up and wear this cozy dolman sweater, a chunky cable knit scarf, and my suede motorcycle jacket that I bought a month ago. The pop of leopard added to my otherwise neutral palette was perfect for a day inside eating some delicious home cooking and catching up with the family.

Sweater: Aerie
Pants: The Limited
Jacket: H&M
Shoes: BCBG via TJ Maxx
Bag: Daisy Fuentes for Kohls
Scarf: Forever 21
Bracelet: Forever 21

What neutral colors to you think work well together?

Go Team Zoe!

For my final TV show post of this month I wanted to talk about a person whom I truly idolize and respect, the one and only Rachel Zoe! If you haven't seen her show, The Rachel Zoe Project, on Bravo it is honestly a MUST SEE. Zoe has the most amazing gift for her craft and I hope to one day be able to meet her and (dare-I-say-it) have the opportunity to work with her, in the hopes that maybe some of that Rachel Zoe magic will rub off on me :)

One of the many reasons I love her show is because it's fun and quirky and it shows how hard people in our industry (meaning fashion) really work and that it's not all sunshine and rainbows. Deciding whether or not to wear the Prada or the Gucci for a major award show is not like your lunch order, its real life (see!) and it matters! Also, much like Giuliana (from Giuliana & Bill) Rachel has her own unique way of speaking, which is again just like me and the girls :) Whenever, I go into a store or see a fabulous piece in a magazine I find myself saying how "May-ge" (super weird spelling but I was going for the phonetic) or major it is!

Here are my top Rachel Zoe sayings:
-"I die(d) for that______"
-"That's Bah-nanas"
-"It's so May-ge"
-"Oh my god"
-"I'm a fashion obsessed crazy b*tch"
-"Sunnies"
-"That would be stupid pretty"

There are obv's tons more but these are my top choices that make me smile. This past season focused on Rachel being pregnant and still styling at a million miles a minute while looking stun-ing! Check out these clips from The Rachel Zoe Project for more Zoe-ness!!

Workout Week #4

Hello fellow workout beauties! Hope that you guys have been reading my posts for the month of October, and have been picking up on some awesome work out tips from me to you! Since it’s the last week of October I’m going to leave you with some last minute important workout tips I've learned over time that I’d like to share with you & remind you about!

1.) Do 8-12 reps and 3 sets per exercise (it's important not to overdue each exercise)

2.) Be sure to use the appropriate amount of weight for your muscle strength. Your goal is to have good posture, and form. Over time, the stronger you get, you'll be able to "up" the weight. For me, since I'm not looking to look like hulk, the weight isn't so important. But, if you feel like you are ready to “up” the weight do so! Otherwise, you’re going to see no muscle buildup.

3.) Don't expect to be able to see a change in your body right after the first workout! It could take a few weeks to notice a difference in muscle strength. I've been doing these workouts for about 6 weeks now, and have seen some change!

4.) It's 50% what you eat, and 50% what you do! Be sure to eat healthy everyday, and get the appropriate amount of nutrients and vitamins. Don't eat too much before a workout. Have something quick like a breakfast bar and lots of water before a workout. Save the meal for afterwards but don't starve yourself!

5.) It takes 30 days to make or break a habit! I was never one to make working out a habit, but once I found an atmosphere I was comfortable working out in, and workouts I enjoyed doing, I actually enjoyed going to the gym. The first few workouts were the toughest for me, but soon enough it got a bit easier.

6.) Remember, it's your workout! Don't care to workout at a gym?! Does a gym not fit in your budget?! Then do your workout at home. There's tons of ways to find a workout that fits your lifestyle!

7.) Check out Youtube Videos, books, websites, and magazines to pick up an exercise or two. I've managed to steal a few from my Cosmopolitan magazines! Check out the "You, Even Better" section with personal trainer Tracy Anderson. Her exercises are great to use right from home!

8.) Be sure that when lifting weights, to have at least one day between your last day of lifting. This allows your muscles to rest!

9.) Don’t be afraid to ask a professional or someone who knows what they’re doing how to do an exercise. You don’t want to hurt yourself by doing an exercise incorrectly and strain your muscles!

10.) Get some cute workout attire!!! I like to buy mine at Dick's Sporting Goods, and Sports Authority. I also can find some cute yoga pants and tank tops at Victoria’s Secret and Caren & Company in Longmeadow, MA.

Also, remember your beautiful inside & out! Working out & staying fit will create a healthier lifestyle for you in the long term! And REMEMBER: Save The Tata’s!!!!

AND BE SURE TO HAVE A HAPPY HALLOWEEN GUYS!!!

Wacky Wednesdays with Jenbiff

Halloween Treats!

Much like KM, I loveeee Halloween. Well to be honest I love getting ready for all holidays, but Halloween just happens to be a little less than a week away. Besides decorating my parents house, going pumpkin picking and carving those pumpkins one thing I've been doing to get ready is paint my nails with Halloween themed designs. I ended up doing different designs for the past two weeks.

The first set of designs: ghosts, candy corn and orange and black

The next designs I did I figured I'd show you how I did it! Oh and because I'm really not this creative on my own...I'll give you my inspiration too!

Part one

Part two

Part three

And finished: Candy corn, Frankenstein, and eyes

The nail polish:

Candy Corn: Yellow: Wet n Wild Fast Dry: The Wonder Yellows/ Orange: Sally Hansen Instadri: Snappy Sorbert/ White: NYColor: Little Italy

Frankenstein: Black: Sinful Colors: Black on Black/ Green: From China/ Thin Black: Art Club: NA2 Black/ Thin White: Art Club: NA1 White

KM Explains it All!

Halloween Favorites!!!!

As I mentioned before, Halloween is my FAVORITE holiday so I thought I'd give you 10 reasons why I think it's so fabulous!

1.  Halloween Costumes
Last year my best friend and I were the Blues Brothers!
2.  Jack-o-lanterns
On the Food Network they had a pumpkin carving contest and this was the winner.  Two of the snakes heads moved and fog came out of the mouth....clearly you can see how it won! (photo taken from google.com)
3.  Halloween Treats
Nutter Butter ghost cookies are my favorite to make! (photo taken from google.com)
4.  Old Monster Movies
My all time favorite monster movie (photo taken from google.com)
5.  Halloween decorations
Usually I put a few skeletons out and add some spiderwebs to our front steps.  Nothing too crazy but still festive! (photo taken from google.com)
6.  Halloween Candy
Usually the trick or treat candy ends up in my belly before the kids even get a chance at it!  (photo taken from google.com)
7.  Scary Movies
I absolutely love scary movies and have been dying to see this one but usually when I go to watch it I'm by myself.  Everyone says it's not a good idea to watch it alone but it just may come down to that (photo taken from google.com)
8.  Ghost Hunters Live
Every year on Halloween, the Ghost Hunters do a live event at a different haunted location.  I am obsessed with this show and all things like it (photo taken from google.com)
9.  Haunted House/Hayride
I've never gone to a haunted house but I've done hayrides in the past and they've always been wicked fun! (photo taken from google.com)
10.  Halloween Specials!
TV shows will typically do holiday specials and this year Pretty Little Liars did a great Halloween special that made me wish the next season was sooner!  (photo taken from google.com)
What's you're favorite thing about Halloween?  Let me know!
