Wacky Wednesdays with Jenbiff

Fashion Week around the World!

Unfortunately I can't to go to every fashion week in the world, but thanks to the wonderful world wide web I can see everything from the catwalks of other countries. Last week I was so excited to tell you of my New York adventures that I completely forgot to back up and break it down (which you could also use while in the club...but I do digress). Anywhosers the fashion weeks of the world begin in New York which ran from February 9-16. London Fashion Week began February 17 and went until the 22th. Milan Fashion Week ran from February 22-28. So of course I will be talking about my review of London and Milan. Paris Fashion Week started yesterday and will go until March 7th; LA Fashion Week will go from March 8th-18th; and finally Tokyo Fashion Week will run from March 18th to the 24th. So let me begin with London. I don't really know too many of the London designers, but this gave me an opportunity to learn many new designers I want to follow in the future.

London
Giles
Some of the looks that came out on the runway were a little more "out there" than the looks that I chose from last week. But the way the prints on the dresses came out I just couldn't ignore it. Let me show you so you know what I'm talking about:

Marios Schwab
Most of the looks were dresses or skirts with shirts that were fitted and belted around the waist. This is actually one of my favorite looks, so of course I loved this line. I also loved the lace details on the shoulders and as a top...but that could also be because I am slightly obsessed with lace.

McQ Alexander McQueen
I can't help it, I am in love with Alexander McQueen. Ever since I found out about McQueen I've loved him and his designs. So I am soo glad to know that Sarah Burton has carried on his legend and design style. So as soon as I saw this line, I knew it would make it onto the blog! Here are my fav looks from the runway:

Other designers from London to check out: Vivienne Westwood

Milan
Giorgio Armani
I surprised myself with how much I loved the simplicity of the pant suits, dresses, and coats. Each look were so wearable and versatile I can't deny it's beauty!

Salvatore Ferragamo
Even though I didn't get to see the looks in person, you could def tell there were a LOT of details in each piece. Even the dresses towards the end of the show (which were my favorites) had metallic details were beautiful.

John Richmond
All you need to know it that I would literally wear every look in this line. That's how cute and wearable it is. Yes, even the gowns.

Here are other designers to check out from Milan: Dsquared2, Just Cavalli, Moschino, Roberto Cavalli

KM Explains it All!

WTH TV...

As many of my friends will tell you I enjoy watching car crashes on TV.  I don't mean actual car crashes, although a good car crash in a movie is always wonderful, I mean crazy people doing crazy things where you want to change the channel but just can't.  TLC is where I find most of these programs and if you're a fellow TLC fanatic then you'll know exactly what shows I'm talking about.

The Virgin Diaries...
Now, I thought that FriendZone was the most awkward show out there...no no...it just doesn't even come close to this beauty.  The program concentrated on three stories:  a couple getting married who have never even kissed each other let alone done the deed (Shanna and Ryan), a thirty-five year old virgin (Carey is his name and he admits that his virgin status is not by choice), and three women looking for love before sex even though one of them has already had sex...with every one of her boyfriends...(Danielle, Tamara, and Lisa).

The couple was the most...interesting? to watch.  They literally are the epitome of awkwardness.  I'm going to leave the video here but just to warn you, their first kiss looks like she's trying to suck his lips off his face while he just sits there puckered up.  Enjoy!
My Strange Addiction...
This one literally made me feel nauseous.  It amazes me what some people do.  On the episodes I watched there was a girl who was addicted to drinking nail polish, a woman addicted to having her boobs enhanced, a woman addicted to digging in her ears, a girl addicted to eating tape, and a man who was in love with his car....both emotionally and physically....

I really don't understand some of these people.  What makes you look at a bottle of nail polish and say "Wow this looks delicious!?"  Nail polish doesn't even smell good so I can't imagine that it tastes any better.  As for the woman addicted to having her boobs done...she's had twenty-two surgeries and was a 38 KKK on the show and decided to go up to a 38 MMM....girlfriend couldn't even tie her own shoes!  Take a look at the clip below from Jimmy Kimmel to see the man with his car...you really have to see these things to believe them.
My Crazy Obsession...
I'm not really sure what differentiates this one from My Strange Addiction since it hasn't aired yet but from the looks of it, it's just more crazy people doing crazy things...like a man who like to dress as a baby and play with his lego's next to his crib...for some reason I couldn't find this clip on YouTube so I couldn't upload it but click here and behold the insanity!

What do you think of these shows and the people on them?  Let me know!!!

Outfit Outtakes by Jen Bou

Neon Pop

Shirt: J. Crew; Jeans: The Limited; Shoes: Payless

You ever have one of those days where you try to do something a smidge different with your hair because it worked oh so well when you did it the other night with no where to go? That readers is what happened to me yesterday hence the pulled back messy look (you dig it). Anyways I’m a huge fan of stripes and anything that looks nautical is always an A in my book. But to add something quirky like embellishments, ruffles, lace, or even a pop of neon makes it that much better. I love how the neon pink at the top of this shirt really adds a punch of color to the simple outfit of jeans and a t-shirt.

Neon is a huge trend for spring and I’m obsessed!! What do you think about it?!

The Gossip Corner with Stine

Hello fellow gossipers! I know I said that I would be talking about NY Fashion Week but I didn't want to be repetitive, and I really loved Jen Biff's post! So instead I am going to share with you some of the top news stories that caught my eye this week.

-IT'S A GIRL! Kourtney Kardashian and longtime BF Scott Disick have confirmed that they are expecting a little girl due in July. Looks like big bro Mason will be very protective of his lil sis if she is half as adorable as him.
Such a cute family! (Google Images)
-Elizabeth Smart married her beau of 1 year, Matthew Gilmour, of Scotland. They were able to keep their Hawaiian wedding under-wraps, mainly because the date was moved up. I think it's so great that she has found happiness, she deserves it!

Elizabeth's People Magazine Cover (Google Images)
-What's my age again? I recently read an article on Yahoo.com that revealed the ages of some of Hollywood's TV stars, and frankly I was shocked by a couple of them!

TV Stars Who Are Older Than You Think
(Google Images)
You would be surprised to learn that Pretty Little Liars star, Bianca Lawson (she plays Maya) is actually 33 years old! And Sarah Hyland from Modern Family is not the same age as her teenage character, but only by a few years, she just turned 21. Cory Monteith from Glee (one of my FAVE shows btw) is turning 30 this year-ahh!! That's more than a decade older than his character Finn Hudson.

-Tim Tebow + Jeremy Lin = Bromance? It looks that way as the two devout Christians are becoming fast friends. Since I am not a huge B-ball fan I really don't understand all hype surrounding Lin but it seems he is the NBA's version of Tebow, I wonder if he'll have a signature "move" named after him? I wonder what they would call it, Lin-ing? Only time will tell I guess.

These are just a few headlines that caught my eye, what are some of your favorites? Let me know!

Thirsty Thursday's With Vicki

My Trip To Philly!

Last week, I finally had the opportunity to take a vacation since I’ve started my job. Since Christine has made her way up to MA twice in the past few months, I thought that it only made sense for me to head her way for once. So last Wednesday morning I took a 7:00 am train from Springfield to Philadelphia. But let me just tell you, getting up at 5:30 and going to bed at 12:30 was no fun whatsoever. Thank God I could just sleep the whole way there.

After a 5 hour train ride, I finally arrived to Philly! Stine met me at the train station, and then we traveled to the Philadelphia Premium Outlets in Limerick, PA which was less than a half hour away from her town. This outlet was pretty massive with over 100 different stores. Neither of us did very much spending on this shopping adventure, but it was still nice to walk around, and catch up on life.

Some stores at this outlet included: Juicy Couture, Forever 21, Vera Bradley, Michael Kors, Joe's Jeans, and Coach

philadelphiausa.travel

The following day we expected the weather to be clear, and sunny but unfortunately there was a bit of a drizzle going on! But, Stine and I still made the most of our day, and took a trip back to Philly to go to the Philadelphia Zoo!!!

Me posing next to the Philly Zoo Balloon!

Since it's off season right now for the zoo we got adult admission tickets for only $12! There were so many exhibits that were open too. The zoo exhibits that we checked out were:
African Plains, First Niagra Big Cat Falls, Bear Country, Bird Valley, Carnivore Kingdom, Monkey Junction, Peco Primate Reserve,  Rare Animal Conservation Center, and Small Mammal House.
Welcome to the zooooo!
Me Being Silly :)
Elephants!!!

Since it was off season we were able to just walk around with not having to wait in lines, hearing screaming children, and we could actually enjoy sitting at the exhibits for as long as we wanted.

Here were some of Stine's & My Favorite Exhibits at the Zoo!!!

Polar Bear!
The Cheetahs were protecting their home!
The tiger came soooo close to us!!!
Look its Nala!!!! Stine & I decided this lioness looks like her dog, Truman :)
Simba & Nala!!!
Our favorite exhibit was probably these gorilla friends of ours! Well, I don't know if you can say friends considering they scared me half to death! This guy right here, was hilarious. We stood at his exhibit for about a half hour in amazement watching his human-like characteristics. He stared at us too though :) At one point, he started pounding on the glass, because he didn't like one of the zoo employees. Another time, he decided to swing on the rope and hit the glass Stine, and I were standing behind.

Crazy Gorilla Friend

And then there was his friend...
Now, if you know me well enough you would know I love giraffes. I'm obsessed. When I'm older, I plan on adopting one!!! They're just so beautiful, have long necks, and are so tall (unlike me). And they have cool tongues and funny looking faces. They're just awesome!!!! But unfortunately they went hiding at the Philly Zoo...

No Giraffes For Me :(
But here's some fun giraffe facts for you!!!

Friday was my last day in the big city of Philly with Stine! So on our last day we decided to actually make an afternoon full of Philadelphia-ness! We first met up with her friend at Reading Terminal Market!

Reading Terminal Market
Reading Terminal Market reminded me of Fanuel Hall in Boston, MA. It had basically every type of food you can imagine! A wide selection of baked goods, meats, poultry, ethnic foods, seafood, and sooo much more!!! They also had a farmers market so you could buy fresh fruits and vegetables. Also the market included small shops filled with everything from cookwear to jewelry to pottery!

For our last adventure, we went down to the famous Comcast Center! It stands at 975 feet tall, and is the largest building in Philly, and is the tallest "green" eco-friendly building in the country!!! This building is full of offices, but right on the main level is HD video wall with the resolution being 500% greater than an HD television, and is the largest four millimeter LED screen in the entire world!!! And that my friends was my vacation away to Philly!! Check out my post next week to read about my second half of my vacation in NYC!!!! :)

Have A Happy Thirsty Thursday!

Wacky Wednesdays with Jenbiff

New York Fashion Week

As all of you know New York Fashion Week was February 9-16. And I was lucky enough to be chosen to volunteer (I was told there were over 4,000 applicants and they only chose about 450 people)! I was very excited and let me tell you it was an amazing experience! While I was extremely lucky to have worked many many shows, I obviously couldn't see them all. So when I wasn't working a show I was all over WWD looking at other shows that were going on. I've chosen my favorite lines from New York and my top favorite looks from my top three:

Alice & Olivia
This presentation was adorable! Fun prints and colors, feminine shapes, fur, sparkles, hats (thank you royal wedding). I really loved this line and would probably wear almost everything in it! Here are my favorite looks:

Carolina Herrera
I've loved Carolina Herrera since I found out about her a couple of years ago. She is known for her simplicity and feminine looks. As you can tell I really love feminine looks. So I always look forward to her lines and she definitely didn't disappoint (and it also was amazing seeing it in person!). Here are my favorite looks:

Tracy Reese
I actually never heard of this designer before going to Fashion Week. I ended up working it and was completely blown away. The colors, prints and shapes were so fun and beautiful. Again I can actually see myself wearing most of the things in this line! Here are my three favorite looks:

I had a really hard time picking my favorites! There were just so many fabulous looks coming down the runway this season! Here are my some of my other favorite lines:
Anna Sui

Badgley Mischka
Betsey  Johnson
Herve Leger
Kate Spade
Oscar de la Renta
Rachel Zoe

*All pictures are from WWD.com

What were your favorite looks you've seen on the runway this season? Are there new trends you want to try out?
