KM Explains it All!

Fabulous Finds!

There are three things you need to know to fully understand this post...
1.  I LOVE vintage
2. I love taking something and using it in a way that it was not created for
and finally
3. My mother is a librarian

How are these three tied together?  Well, while I was helping my Mom do some back to school cleaning in the library at the elementary school she works at, I spotted this fabulous card catalog sitting in the corner with a table pushed up against it clearly not being used.  Everything is on computers these days so the need for card catalogs has somewhat gone out the window.  LIGHT BULB!  I had been looking for a new way to store my accessories because their previous storage space was small and everything tangled very easily.  Because the drawers in the card catalog are longer, I figured that my necklaces would fit perfectly in them.  After some begging on my part and my Mom asking the principal if it was OK, I brought my new piece of furniture home.

It was in need of some love since it had gone unused for so long.  There where stickers on each drawer indicating what number it was...needless to say they were a wicked big pain to get off!  Luckily we had some Goo-Gone, which paired with a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser and some elbow grease, worked wonders.  Add some pledge to the mix and it was good as new!

The bottom of the drawers needed something to line them so I found some fun colored felt at Walmart, cut them to the size of the drawer, and used double sided tape to hold them in place.

They fit perfectly!
Most people who know me know that I am obsessed with big rings...LOVE THEM!
I'm trying to find an even better way to store them in the drawer...I'll keep you posted!
No more tangled chains!
Pretty colors in an easily accessible drawer
One of the best features of this piece of furniture is that it can hold SO many different things and it has this awesome shelf that pulls out.  I like to use it to see how different pieces of jewelry look together.

Have any fabulous finds that you want to share?  Let me know!
