KM Explains it All!

Movies, Movies, Movies....

Have you ever watched a movie and recognized something about the scenery?  As I have mentioned before, I am a movie freak.  One of the coolest things, in my opinion, is being able to go see different locations that have been in movies.  Usually I start shouting, "I'VE BEEN THERE!"  I've been lucky enough to travel to some amazing places and see some amazing things.  Before I visit a place, I like to do my research and see what's gone on there.  Here are a few famous locations that I've seen.

Platform 9 3/4 from Harry Potter!  It's actually not located right at 9 3/4 but there is a sign there that then leads you to this location.
Gringots, also from Harry Potter.  I took a History of London course while I studied abroad and our Professor would point out all sorts of different locations that he thought we'd recognize.  He also brought us to Diagon Alley.
Portobello Road!  One of my favorite movies when I was little was Bedknobs and Broomsticks and they have a whole song about this place which I sang while I was there.
Top Donut!  This is one where I shouted I've been there during the movie and I don't think that the other people in the theater appreciated it too much.  Now, unless you're from around the Lowell, MA area you'll have no idea what this is.  It's a donut shop featured in the movie The Fighter with Mark Wahlberg and Christian Bale.
Fenway Park!  This has been in several movies but a few more recent ones would be The Town and Fever Pitch.
The Louvre!  This is actually from one of the final scenes in The Da Vinci Code.  I won't say what's supposedly underneath the pyramid in case someone hasn't seen it.
English Countryside!  This can be seen in The Holiday with Cameron Diaz and Kate Winslet.  It's from a scene where Cameron is crying and walking through this actual field.
Saint Martha's!  For my fellow horror film fans this is from the original version of The Omen.
Moulin Rouge!  Do I really need to name what movie this is from?
Belfort!  This belfry is a crucial location in the Colin Farrell movie In Bruges.
The Sphinx!  Jumper anyone?  Hayden Christensen stands on the Sphinx's head at one point in the film.
Fortunately my brain is full of useless information like this and I've had a lot of great people around me when I've traveled.  In some cases I may not have recognized the location while I was there unless someone told me.  Always keep your eyes open when you're out and about because you never know what celebrities have walked in that same spot.

Have you ever been to anywhere that's been featured in a movie?  Let me know!!!
