KM Explains it All!

Books, Movies, Books, Movies...

I finally got to see the Avengers this weekend and let me just say that it fully lived up to the expectations I set for it!

This movie has Thor (my favorite), Iron Man, Captain America, Hawkeye, Black Widow, and of course the Hulk.  I must admit that I did not see all the individual movies for these superheros, the only ones I didn't see were Captain America (it's on my DVR and I plan on watching it as soon as I get a free minute) and I also never watched the second Hulk movie...after the first I just couldn't bring myself to even though I know it was a different cast and everything I still couldn't do it.  Not seeing Captain America I don't think took anything away from the movie for me but I do think if you didn't see Thor you wouldn't have completely understood what was going on since it was his brother who was the main villain.

With a lot of these movies I hate when they throw random love stories in for example Transformers so didn't need that extra story line but this movie didn't do that.  They put Iron Man's love interest Pepper Potts in it but it wasn't a focus of the movie.  There was a great mix of action and humor in the story.  Iron Man is so sarcastic and always cracking a joke that when he interacted with a character as serious as the Demigod Thor everyone in the theater laughed.  I walked out of the theater going "HULK SMASH" so would I recommend this movie...why yes, yes I would.

Now on to another topic I love...books!  I don't know about the rest of you but I have a summer reading list that's about a mile long.  For right now I narrowed it down to a few books that I'm really looking forward to and I'll keep you posted on my thoughts on these books.

1.  Fifty Shades of Gray

This one is currently going around my workplace and everyone's been talking about it so now I feel like I have to read it to know what all the talk is about!

2.  Deadlocked

I love the show Trueblood and these are the books that it's based off of.  I've read them all and this one just came out but I must say that I was disappointed with the last two so I've been hesitant to buy it.  It's the second to last one in the whole series so I'm sure that I'll buy it because I'm one of those people that has to know how something ends.

3.  A Song of Ice and Fire

I know I've talked about this series and the show a lot but it really is great.  Knights, Princes, Princesses, Kings, Queens, war, love, this series really has it all.  Currently I'm working on the second book but I'm so antsy to read other books that I may have to put this series on hold for a little bit.

4.  Outlander

This is another series that I saw someone reading at work and after looking up the synopsis I can't wait to read it.

5.  Insurgent

This is the sequel to Divergent and if you're looking for something along the lines of the Hunger Games then I highly recommend picking this one up.  Just like the Hunger Games this story is set in a dystopian society and I'm a sucker for these kinds of books.  This one is sitting on my table just waiting to be read!

What's on your summer movie and reading lists?  Let me know!
