Fridays with Jenbiff

Locks of Love

Happy Friday bloggers!
You may or may not have noticed, but recently I got my hair cut. Well, cut doesn't quite describe it...chopped off would prob be a little better of a description. Anywhosers, that's not really a big deal, people get their hair cut all the time and don't feel the need to shout it from the roof tops. The reason why I'm telling you is because I actually donated my locks to Locks of Love. This is actually the second time I've donated my hair to the organization.

Before
After my haircut (and also after I sent my hair)
Now if you don't know anything about them, or only know a little, let me enlighten you! Locks of Love (obviously) accepts hair donations in order to make wigs for people, more specifically children, who have lost their hair due to illness. Actually they only make wigs for financially disadvantaged children and teens under the age of 21 who live in the United States or Canada. I used to think it was just for cancer patients, but I recently discovered the recipients could have suffered from any long-term medical conditions resulting in hair loss. On their website they have pictures of children who have received wigs. Here is on of the before and afters:

Doesn't she look so much happier? If you are interested in donating your hair here are the requirements:
1. The hair must be at least 10 inches long from end to end
2. Hair must be in a ponytail or braid before it's cut
3.Hair must be clean and completely dry before mailed in
4. The ponytail or braid must be put in a plastic bag, then a padded envelope

Of course donating hair is not the only way you can get involved. You of course can donate money, but you can also volunteer at an event, or buy some of their cute jewelry or bears. So...what are you waiting for?

  1. So thoughtful of you to do this and to include the details on how to donate and other ways to help out! Also the before and after of this little girl was really nice. When it comes down to it, you rock! Period.

  3. Thanks guys! I figured when I was ready to cut my hair why not give it to someone in need? I didn't need/want it anymore! And an organization that helps children is even better!
