Spooky Halloween in Salem

HUGE NEWS!! I finally made it to Salem during October! Ok so this may not be huge news for anyone other than me, and Halloween happened over a week ago, but still! Let me tell you, it was everything I could have hoped for and more! Being the Saturday before Halloween, my boyfriend Ben and I decided to get a jump start on the day. We got to Salem around 11am and it was a good thing because it just got busier from there.

Salem's "Haunted Happenings"
We started the day out wandering around before sitting down in a café called Gulu-Gulu. The staff were all dressed up and the food was fantastic! I had an Istanbul Panini which is smoked turkey with fresh mozzarella, tomatoes and pesto. Yum!

When we rolled our way out of the café even more people were walking around the streets. Many people were dressed up which made me wish we had thought of dressing up too. We decided to go to a little museum called Count Orlok’s Nightmare Gallery. This museum consists of wax figures of many creepy characters from your favorite scary movies. When you first walk in they actually have characters from original Phantom of the Opera, Creature from the Black Lagoon, Frankenstein and a few others. As you continue through the dimly lit museum you are brought to more current characters such as the girl from the exorcist, Carrie, Michael Myers, Freddy Krueger, etc. It was really cool!

Later on we wandered over to the Witch Dungeon Museum. Here they start you out with an explanation of what was happening during this time, then you watch a live reenactment of an actual trial. After the reenactment you are brought down to recreations of dungeons and conditions that the people accused of witchcraft experienced.

Of course Salem has tons of cool museums and tours you could go on, but there are also plenty of shops where you could buy any sort of incents, magic stones, cauldrons, and anything else one would need. And seeing everyone dressed up is really cool too. If you’re ever on the east coast during October I def think you should make a stop to Witch City!

Ps What do you think of the new name??
