Oldies but Goodies
I know the first post of the month was Friday, but I was still so excited about everything Halloween that I totally forgot about what month it was. That being said I have some goodies for you to watch this month...go ahead, check them out!
Citizen Kane (1941)
Starring: Orson Welles (also the writer and director),
Joseph Cotton, and Dorothy Comingore
Charles Foster Kane was a larger than life millionaire
newspaper business man. Since his death, newspaper writers are on the trail to
find out what his last word, Rosebud, meant. We follow their journey through
the memories of the people who knew him best. Through his career highlights and
private life. Will we ever find out what Rosebud means?

The Great Escape (1963)
Starring: Steve McQueen, James Garner, and Richard
Attenborough
A brand new prisoner of war camp has been built and the new
prisoners are being dropped off today. But this camp is different from the rest
because it is not the typical camp during Nazi Germany’s rule. This camp houses
the most mischievous POW’s who have made multiple attempts to escape the
previous camps they were in. And for them, this camp is no different. The
leader of the prisoners, Bartlett ‘Big X’, comes up with a plan to get 250 of
the captured men out. The escape plan begins and the men try to act as
naturally as possible. Are they able to escape? What problems will the men
face?
Some Like It Hot (1959)
Starring: Marilyn Monroe, Tony Curtis, and Jack Lemmon
Two musicians from Chicago, Joe and Jerry, witness the St.
Valentine’s Day massacre accidently. Knowing that they were seen by the
murders, they need to get out of town and fast. But how? They’re broke
musician! The only gig they know of is an all female band which is heading to Florida. Knowing they
need to get out of the city, they decide to dress in drag and join the all
female band. They get along great with all of the girls, especially Sugar Kane
Kowalczyk. Joe, or Josephine, decides he is going to try and get her to fall
for him. And in the meantime Jerry, of Daphne, ends up trying to fight off a
man who has fallen for him/her and won’t take no for an answer! Will everything
work out for both Joe and Jerry? Are they safe in Florida?
North by Northwest (1959)
Starring: Cary
Grant, Eva Marie Saint, and James Mason
Advertising executive Roger Thornhill is abducted by spies
because they think he is George Kaplan. When he is finally able to get away,
the first thing he does is find Foreign Spy, Philip Vandamm, to help him find
the real George Kaplan. But when Thornhill is accused of murdering Vandamm, he
realizes he must leave the New York
City. He ends up on a train heading to Chicago, where he meets
Eve Kendall, who helps him hide from the police searching the train. After
spending the night together they arrive in Chicago
and Thornhill quickly realizes Kendall is not
the innocent woman he thought she was. She tells him Kaplan will meet him at a
bus stop which is in the middle of a corn field, but when Thronhill gets there,
he is met with a plane trying to kill him! Managing to get away and back into Chicago, he finds Kendall
to figure out why she lied to him and set him up.
