Thirsty Thursday's With Vicki

Mama Iguana's in Springfield,  MA

Sometimes, the best nights out are the ones you least expect. This was exactly what happened to me just this past week with my best friend.  After ten years of being best friends, Courtney and I always have unforgettable adventures together. Just this summer alone, there’s been numerous fun nights out that we still laugh about today.

Last Friday, we planned on going to see a band play at Maximum Capacity in Chicopee, MA. We were really excited to go, considering Max Cap, has cheap drinks, and a good crowd. When we arrived though, to our surprise, the place was closed down. Apparently, according to Mass Live, they lost their permit due to strippers? Who knows, but basically we were disappointed.
So good thing, we were able to meet up with our friend, Nate, from Chicopee. We all decided to take a drive to Springfield, MA and check out the hot New Mexican restaurant/bar, right near the Basketball Hall of Fame, Mama Iguana’s. Working in Longmeadow, I always heard from co-workers and locals, that it was the place to check out. In June, it took over the former restaurant, Onyx, and I’m extremely happy it did. It also has another location, in Northampton.

As we walked into the restaurant, outside was a bar area with music and tons of young people dancing and socializing. When we walked in, the restaurant was decorated head to toe in Mexican themed decorations. Since we wanted to order some nachos and cheese, we decided to grab a table. I always love restaurants that the kitchen is open until at least 1:00 am. Good for a late night snack after a night of fun. The restaurant was pretty busy for a Friday night, whether it was at the inside bar or the tables surrounding us.
If you’re like me and LOVE Margaritas then Mama Iguana’s will be your new favorite Mexican restaurant. No other Mexican restaurant in Western MA can compete, with Mama Iguana’s 200 varieties of Tequila on their menu.
My drink of choice for the night was a La Flaquita  aka a "Skinny Girl" Margarita. I’ve never had one before but let me say it was a good choice! Not only was it delicious, but strong! The drink also helped with the hot and spicy nachos we decided to order. I’ll have to remember next time to have them tone down on the jalapenos. I’ll also have to remember to bring a few extra people along! We ordered the larger portioned nacho’s & cheese, and ended up being left with half the plate.

Skinny Girl Margarita recipe:
-Milagro Silver Tequila
-Gran Gala
-Fresh Lime & Soda

For my unplanned, Mexican night out, I wore a pair of white dressy shorts, and a light pink and grey sequined tank top. For shoes, I wore a pair of nude wedges. These pair of wedges, have been the perfect summer shoe for me. I always find awesome shoes at DSW, but this one was probably one of my best purchases there. Their a shorter wedge, extremely comfortable, and allow me to almost wear them with just about anything because of the trendy nude color. As for accessories I threw on a pair of white and silver hooped earrings.

-White Shorts: Express
-Pink/Silver Sequined Top: Ann Taylor
-Earrings: Forever 21
