Yes, Fashionistas Know How to Read.
I would like to start out today’s post by letting you know that I am a self proclaimed book-worm. Give me a good romance novel, mystery, bio or autobiography, and fashion-y type book and I’m a happy little nugget. I recently have leaned towards books by my favorite celebs and fashion-y types (sorry but Tori Spelling and the Kardashian’s books are not even on my wish list to read). Recently I decided to re-read Victoria Beckham’s book: That Extra Half an Inch: Hair, Heels, and Everything In Between.

I read it a few years ago when I first got into college, but decided that I could benefit from re-reading it. I’m always looking for new tips and advice that I could personally and professionally benefit from. And I definitely retained more this time around. If you are one of those people who think they would be bored to tears reading about the difference between blue and teal, you clearly would be in for a surprise. Believe it or not there are a lot of really great tips on things such as taking care of stains, where different hems and seams are supposed to sit on your body and even different things about makeup. Victoria’s book is no different. The book came out in 2007, so she was still living in London, but she did not forget about us fashion confused Americans. She talks about many American companies for everything from clothing to beauty products. She gives tips on how to take care of your skin if it’s oily, dry or if you pregnant. Regardless of if she likes flats, heels, or wedges, she talks about how to wear all three, and the same with different style of clothes. The tips she gives are really great and more people should be aware and follow them! Let’s be serious…we all know someone who probably should be on an episode of What Not to Wear.

Another really great thing about her book is that at the end of every chapter she breaks down the best places to buy certain things, and after she lists the different places, there are 2 pages for notes. I didn’t want to write in my book, but I found many small papers with my own notes of things I wanted to look up after reading it the first time…maybe after this time I will actually look up the stuff! But don’t fret, dear reader, she does define many things, so you didn’t have to study fashion in order to know what she is talking about. But let's face it, she is very fashionable and definitely knows what she is talking about!
