KM Explains it All!

DIY Wrap Bracelet!

I love the feeling of taking materials and making something out of them.  That's probably why I love do it yourself projects so much.  Now, I had intended to do something other than jewelry for today's post, however the materials needed for that project weren't at the store (insert sad face here).  I walked around the store looking at everything, trying to determine what to make for today's post until I remembered something that I had wanted to attempt making.  Back in November, I went to the Foo Fighters concert with my friend, Erika, and she was wearing this gorgeous necklace.  It looked like it was made out of a jersey material, rhinestones, and a thin chain.  I couldn't remember exactly what it looked like but I thought that I could make a different piece of jewelry with this image in mind.  I could have asked her for a picture of it but I really wanted to make something that was my own and this is what I came out with!
Here are the materials I used which were all purchased at A.C. Moore
First I attached the fastener to one end of the chain
I looped the fabric piece through the fastener, making the length even on both sides.  I found that using a clip board to hold the top together really worked well and made the process much easier.  The rhinestone chain wasn't attached to any of the other pieces.  I held it in place with my finger while I wrapped it the first few times.
From there I did a very unconventional braid.  I didn't do it in any particular order because I liked the random effect that it was having as I wrapped the different pieces.
To hold the rhinestone chain in place, I simply wrapped the fabric pieces around the last piece and then knotted it.
I attached the end fastener to the chain and was finished!  The rhinestone chain wasn't long enough to make it a necklace and I liked the idea of a wrap bracelet so I left the length as it was.  It fit around my wrist twice perfectly!
And here's the finished product!  Hopefully the materials for my next DIY project will be available soon because it's a project I'm very excited about and can't wait to share.

Have you done any good DIY projects?  Let me know!!!
