KM Explains it All!

Tuesday Ten!

Hello readers!  Today was an exciting day for me because I started a new job!  I thought a good post for today would be to discuss my ten ways I prepare for a day like today...

1.  Plan your outfit the night before...
This isn't what I wore but it's an outfit from Pinterest that I love!
There's nothing like waking up in the morning and finding that your clothes aren't clean or you can't find the pair of pants you need.

2.  Get any paperwork ready the night before...

If everything is all together the night before, it's one less thing to look for in the morning.

3.  Shower the night before...

You can take the extra time in the morning to rest and sleep.

4.  Pack a lunch and snacks...
(from google.com)
You never know what the situation is on your first day and I'm a firm believer in the fact that you can never be too prepared.  This is something I'd also do the night before.  Again, one less stress to worry about.

5.  Pack a book...

I feel like breaks can be kind of awkward.  You don't know anyone so no one is going to ask you to go with them somewhere, you don't know if there's a break room, and you don't necessarily know how long your break is.  If you pack a book you can pretty much plop down anywhere to pass the time.

6.  First day goodie bag...
You never know what you're going to need or run into on the new job.  Pack some ibuprofen, chap stick, hand lotion, emergency chocolate, anything you think you might need to get through the day.

7.  Get a good nights sleep...

First days can be nerve-racking enough so you don't want to be groggy during it.

8.  Eat a good breakfast...
(from google.com)
Breakfast is the most important meal of the day!  Also, you don't know when your next chance to eat will be.

9.  Get there early!

On your first day you want to make a good first impression and being late is definitely not good.  Try and plan accordingly though so you're not too early...like I was for the interview...only an hour early...gave me plenty of time to do step 10.

10.  Scope out the area...

This is something that I like to do when I'm still in the interview process but I still think it's important to mention.  If it's a place you think you're going to like then you're going to want to know what's around there.  I always look for different food places, coffee shops, gas stations, etc.  This way once you get the job you'll know where to go to on your break!

How do you get ready for your first day at a new job?  Let me know!

P.S. The girls and I are thinking about redoing the layout and colors so let us know what you think about it and which one you prefer!
