KM Explains it All!

Fabulous Finds!

My mom and I purchased this chair at a yard sale I couldn't even tell you how many years ago.  It's been sitting in my parents room for years just waiting for me to fix it up.  Recently the chair wound up in my room and it just did not fit in with the decor at all so I decided to fix it up one day.  All it took was a little bit of spray paint, fabric, and some cushioning.

This is what the chair looked like to begin with.  The seat was disgusting when we bought it and I knew that it was going to need some lovin'.  When you sat on the chair it just was not comfortable on the toosh at all and definitely needed some more cushion.  I unscrewed everything from the chair, took the seat out, then put the chair back together leaving it seat-less.  This allowed me to paint it easier.  I also sanded it down a bit before painting.  As you can see in the picture, the black paint had chipped a bit and I didn't want the new paint to look uneven.

I bought both the fabric and cushioning at Walmart for under $10
The orange in this is all there was to the previous cushion.
I traced the old cushion so I would be able to tell how big the new one had to be.  For the new cushion, I used quilt cushioning and layered it about four times.  To make sure that the cushioning was comfortable enough, I placed the new cushioning on the wooden piece that holds the seat to the chair, then sat on it.  I didn't want to put the chair all back together only to find it wasn't comfortable!
It was a bit windy out so I needed those sticks to hold the newspaper down :)
I used the whole can of spray paint because I'm a bit of a perfectionist and needed every spot covered.  Once it dried I had to take the chair back apart so that I could put the seat back in.  I absolutely love how it looks now!
The final product!
The chair went from drab to fab in just a few short hours!  Have any good finds that you want to share?  Let me know!
