KM Explains it All!

Beantown!

This past weekend Christine came up to Boston with her friend Giulia so JBou and I met up with them Saturday to explore the city a bit.  I can't remember the last time I acted like a tourist in Boston...or shopped....or did anything besides going to a bar for that matter.  It was definitely a nice change!
Bobby Orr statue outside Boston  Garden
JBou and I started off at North Station which is underneath/next to the Garden.  The statue pictured above is of a player that pretty much everyone in Boston knows and if you don't then shame on you!  Bobby Orr is my dad's all time favorite player so I had to make sure I took and sent him a picture of the statue.
Quincy Market
We walked over to Faneuil Hall where we met up with Christine and Giulia.  This area includes tons of shopping as well as Quincy Market which has all different types of foods.  We decided to have lunch here because it has a little bit of something for everyone.  There's pizza, chowda, gelato, Chinese food, everything!

After walking around there and filling up on delicious food, we took the T over to a great shopping area called Downtown Crossing.  This use to be the home of a fabulous Filene's Basement which unfortunately went out of business so one major attraction has been taken away from us (insert sad face here).  There's still other good stores like H&M, TJ MAXX, Macy's, DSW, etc.  While I'm in the area I like to stop at this store called So Good Jewelry.  It's been years since I'd been shopping there so I forgot what the products were like and all I remembered was that it was wall to wall jewelry.  I wouldn't say I was disappointed with what they had but I will say I didn't spend as much as I thought I would.  It had more gaudy, prom type, bedazzled jewelry rather than good everyday pieces.  I did come across two rings that weren't bedazzled to the extreme to add to my collection.
Make Way For Ducklings statues
Once we were shopped out we decided to make our way to Boston Commons.  It was nice to walk through it and people watch.  There are always some crazy characters walking around the city and we certainly came across a few like a man yelling about either some sort of religious rant that I couldn't quite make out or asking for money...whatever it was we walked away..quickly.  After the Commons comes Boston Gardens where during the summer they have swan boats and there's always a crowd around the Make Way For Ducklings statues.  I like to make it a point to see these and would definitely recommend a stroll through here.

It was fun to have a laid back day to meander through the city that I love so much.  I hadn't done it in so long that I forgot how much fun it is and can't wait to head back in for a shopping day!

Outfit Outtakes by Jen Bou

Color Blocking

I'm sure everyone has heard of this awesome spring trend. It's now okay to wear colors in one outfit that wouldn't necessarily go together and I'm absolutely loving it! Picked up these cobalt colored jeans a couple of weeks ago and they were exactly what I was looking for to add to my colored denim collection :-)

Land's End Sweater & Shirt; TJ Maxx Jeans; Payless Shoes

Hope everyone has a Happy Monday!

Friday Favorites!

Hey readers, how's your week been?! Are you ready for some Friday Faves? I know I am so let's jump in:

-One Tree Hill is no more...(sadface) this beloved show said its final goodbye this past Wednesday and closed the door on 9 wonderful seasons. I loved this show and was sad to see it go, however, I felt it was time to end it on a high note, which they definitely did! Season 9 felt like a roller coaster ride, it had everything from; the birth of Brooke's twin boys, Nathan getting kidnapped by Russian assassins, Clay's battle with a fugue disorder causing him to wander off, Dan rescuing Nathan and dying, Brooke getting attacked by Xavier, the return of Lucas, Clay and Quinn get married and adopt his son that he had previously blocked from his memory. I literally could go on and on! The finale was beautiful and a really nice tribute to the show. Here's a promo from Season 9:

-Giuliana & Bill premiered this week and boy was this first episode a doosey! They talked about what it felt like when G was first diagnosed with breast cancer and how they decided to handle it. I really commend both G and B for their braveness and willingness to share such a personal journey with their viewers. You can catch their show every Tuesday at 8pm on Style

-Who is Kimaye? According to some media outlets that's the new moniker for Hollywood's latest couple....Kim Kardashian and Kanye West?!?!! If you're scratching your head then you're def not alone. Mr. West is a far cry from the types of guys that Kim has dated/married in the past. For one he's NOT an athlete (ie Reggie Bush, Miles Austin, or Kris Humphries), he's definitely NOT afraid of the media attention (ie Reggie Bush, Miles Austin, and Kris Humphries), and they started out as longtime friends before things got romantical. Who knows maybe Kanye is just the kind of guy Kim needs!

-Royal bump watch is in full effect now that rumors are swirling that William and Kate are ready to have a baby! Of course the Palace is staying mum on the subject. It was just reported that the Duke and Duchess recently cancelled a trip to Africa, some are saying it has to do with vaccinations that would be harmful to a pregnancy. Well whenever these 2 lovebirds decide to expand their family, the entire world will be watching with faded breath to catch a glimpse of the newest royal.

Shipping Up To Boston

Man, what a crazy past week it has been!!! I just accepted a job outside of the Boston area, and will be moving in less than a month! So, ever since last Friday it's all about looking for the perfect place to live for the next year.

googleimages.com
As you know from reading my past blog posts, I love Boston.  I've always been a city girl. I love the hustle, and bustle of a big city with something always to do or see, and a ton of new people to meet. But after, making two trips up to Eastern MA to apartment hunt I started realizing how expensive it really is living in the city, and how horrendous the traffic can be!

After the long process of searching for an apartment I finally decided that for my first year living in Eastern MA it was best that I resided in a place outside of the city. My commute is nice & easy, affordable, and I can still get into Boston easily (if there's no traffic!)

Here's a few things I'm looking forward to re-living again in the Eastern MA area:

1.) Attend a Boston Red Sox Game! Happy 100th Anniversary Red Sox!

2.) Celebrate Halloween, St. Patty's Day, & Marathon Monday in the city

St. Patty's Day Attire!
Some new friends we met in the past on Halloween!

2.) Go shopping on Newbury Street

3.) Relive college, and go for dancing & drinks on Moody Street in Waltham, MA

4.) Take a trip to Salem, MA for Halloween

What did you watch this month??

Quote of the Week: "You think you got the best of me
Think you've had the last laugh
Bet you think that everything good is gone
Think you left me broken down
Think that I'd come running back
Baby you don't know me, cause you're dead wrong
What doesn't kill you makes you stronger
Stand a little taller"

What Ever Happened to Music Television?

I grew up watching different music programs like Pop-Up Video and TRL (Total Request Live) but now there are almost no music channels unless you have Fios or Xfinity.  What ever happened to these shows?  Did people just stop watching music videos?  MTV, the music television station, has more reality shows then anything else.  Personally, I still enjoy watching videos and now spend more time on YouTube looking up what artists are putting out.  Some of these videos are hilarious while others make me glad that there are less shows featuring videos.  Here are a few of my favorites and a few that I wish I'd never looked up.

Foo Fighters:  Learn To Fly (one of my all time favorites)
Neon Trees:  Everybody Talks (one of my new favorites...there's zombies how could I refuse?)
LMFAO:  Sorry For Party Rocking (just because these guys are hilarious)
And now for ones that I wish I had never seen...Lady Gaga:  Marry the Night...I can't even bring myself to post this video because the first thirteen minutes (yes I watched it for that long) are of her acting like a fool and it's just unneeded for a music video.  I know she's always over the top but this was just nuts!  If you really want to see this video then head over to YouTube and brace yourself!

Britney Spears:  Gimme More (I love "It's Britney Bitch" and I know she was going through something but...I mean...really?)
Do you still like to watch music videos or are you happy they aren't around as much?  Let me know!

Outfit Outtakes by Jen Bou

J.Crew Love

When someone asks me how I would describe my style I really don't know what to say since I feel like I dress based on my mood. I never would have used the word "preppy" to define my style. However, as of late I can't help but love the clothing from J.Crew whose collections I would describe as preppy and classic but with a twist. I'm swooning over their bold color palettes and choice of prints and can't seem to get enough of the way they mix pieces together.

*All images are from J.Crew's Tumblr

It just so happens J.Crew was having some good sales last week so I did a little shopping!
