Walt Disney World: Where Dreams Come True!

Hey everyone I hope you all had a fabulous week, I know I did! I just got back from the happiest place on earth, Disney World, and I can't wait to tell you all about it. Now let me preface this by saying that our trip had a very rocky start: my cousins and I weren't on the same flight so I was trying to switch which wasn't possible because of some new 6 hour rule (so dumb!) and to boot the lady at the counter was so mean! I was put on standby for the next flight but it didn't look good since it was booked solid, well lady luck was on my side because 32 people didn't show up so I got on at the last second-yay! Once I arrived at our resort, Disney's Port Orleans Riverside, things calmed down and we were ready to start our vacation!

Top: Our Princess Room, Bottom: Jen & Lauren in front of our resort
A quick word to the wise, have a plan in place BEFORE you go, meaning figure out which parks you want to see first, what rides you really want to go on, and places you want to eat. Now thankfully we had our own personal Disney planning expert in the form of my cousin, Jennifer! She has been planning this trip for basically 10 years lol so we were good to go.

Jen's plan of attack and yes it is color-coded :)
We also decided to buy matching backpacks and shirts so that we could better keep track of each other (we only wore the shirts one day and the Minnie ears we bought there). With Jen's plan, staying at a Disney resort, and having the park hopper ticket we were able to hit 2-3 parks each day! Each day a park will open early or stay open later for guests staying at the Disney resorts, which allowed us to go on almost every ride/attraction at each park.

Top-Bottom: Me, Jen & Lauren at Epcot; Magic Kingdom; Hollywood Studios; Animal Kingdom
In terms of rollercoasters I think all of us would say that Hollywood Studios was our fave park. It has Tower of Terror, Rockin' Roller Coaster, Star Tours, ... Magic Kingdom, Epcot, and Hollywood had really great night shows like: Night time Wishes Spectacular, Electrical Parade, Fantasmic, and Illuminations. Here are a few pics I took:

Top-Bottom: MK, Hollywood, Epcot, Rockin' Rollercoaster, Stunt Show
We also really enjoyed Animal Kingdom, especially the Kilamanjaro Safari where we got to see some amazing animals, take a look!

Giraffes for Vicki; Elephants for Jen; Lions for me and Lauren!
Finally one of the best moments for me was meeting all of the characters and princesses! The reason being when I was a little kid for some strange reason I was terrified of them! It sounds kinda silly now but I really wanted to make up for lost time so I had a few in mind that I really wanted to see and we did!

Needless to say we had an AMAZING time!!! We can't wait to go back so Jen is already planning for the next time, hopefully it won't be another 10 years!

Have a Magical weekend everyone!!

Trending Thursday's With Vicki live

Cambridge

Last weekend, Jen Boo, our friend Alyssa, and myself decided to venture to Cambridge, MA, a suburb outside of Boston.

Our reasoning for going to Cambridge was to check out my childhood friend's band called "The Raft". This band was formed in Westfield, MA in the year of 2009. They create original music with influence from R&B, Rock & Roll, Reggae, Funk, and Western African music (Raft's Facebook page).

Raft's Facebook Page
"The Raft performed at Tommy Doyle's located in Harvard Square in Cambridge. Tommy Doyle's actually has two other locations (another in Kendall Square in Cambridge, and one in Hyannis, MA). This bar has three floors, with bars and tables located on each floor. The top floor has a stage where bands and DJ's perform during the weekends.

Tommy Doyle's is located at 96 Winthrop Street Harvard Square Cambridge, MA

It's actually funny because once we got into Tommy Doyle's I realized I had been there once before right after my 21'st birthday for a date. Atleast this time brought better memories!

The girl's and I loved Tommy Doyle's and The Raft. We're actually going back tomorrow night to see Green Line Inbound perform. Can't wait!

Happy Thursday :)

Wacky Wednesdays with Jenbiff

Men's Fashion Weeks: London and Milan

*All pictures are from WWD.com
One big difference between women’s and men’s fashion weeks is that women’s are always a lot bigger. This shouldn’t be too much of a surprise seeing as even people who are not interested in fashion at all know that there is a fashion week for women in New York and/or Paris at some point in the year. The fact that are at least 8 (Spring and Fall RTW, Resort, Spring and Fall Couture, Pre-Fall, Men’s Spring and Fall) different fashion “weeks” throughout the year is clearly a minor detail. Anywhosers, maybe because most American men have little to no interest in fashion, Men’s Fashion Week means nothing to the average man in America. And it’s not surprising because men’s fashion is nothing that the average American man would wear.

In the past two weeks, both London and Milan have had their Men’s Fashion Week. And some of the looks I never expect to see a man in my life wearing, while others I wish more men would wear. But regardless of how many men would wear things or not, here are my fav looks of London and Milan:

London Fashion Week: June 15-17
Topman Design
I had to show you guys some of these designs because of how crazy they are. I don’t know any man who would wear any of these looks, but they are so wacky that I actually kinda dig them. Maybe it’s because I grew up in the 90s, that the wacky prints, colors and shapes of the garments had a nostalgic feel. Here are my top 3 looks:

Victoria's Secret called. They want their PINK collection back.
Straight off the runway from 1996.

Hackett London
Completely opposite from Topman’s, Hackett London showed looks that I wish every man wore every day. What girl doesn’t love a man in a tailored suit after all? But the fact that they were able to take such classic and stylish suits and use color blocking, pin stripes and perfect piping makes these suits the new must have for every man…well at least in my opinion it should be a must have.

Richard James
Pin stripes on tailored suits are def in according to Richard James (and Hackett London too) and I am so loving it! In Richard James’ collection he had every suit with a little pop of color in the tie, shoes and pocket square. But don’t think that these suits are only in tradition blacks, greys, and blues, he created some in bright blues and oranges too! Here are my favs:

Milan Fashion Week: June 22-26
Belstaff
As if I really needed another reason to love military jackets, Belstaff took traditional men’s military jackets, belted them and made them a little more fitted. Love. The pants were textured and suede (my absolute fav). And quite a few looks were sporting huge man bags. Big enough to carry a small pet or child. Only the best bags are that big.

 Dsquared2
A little darker of a line, Dsquared2 took a gothic route creating mostly black and white outfits. Leather pants, jackets and accessories mixed with white button downs. Most outfits had a layer of necklaces, bracelets or broaches. For a darker, gothic look I loved it. Here are my favs:

Gucci
Again, suits were big on the Gucci runway in mints and oranges. Fun prints also dominated the polos and pants. Double and single breasted suit jackets were huge, with matching pants in all sorts of bright colors.

Other lines to check out: Roccobarocco, Dolce & Gabbana, Versace

What do you think of the looks that have come out on the runway so far??

Quote of the Week: “It’s a new era in fashion - there are no rules. It’s all about the individual and personal style, wearing high-end, low-end, classic labels, and up-and-coming designers all together”
Last Weeks Answer: Vivienne Westwood
