The Gossip Corner with Stine

Fashion Star!
(Google Images)

Have you seen the hottest new fashion show on NBC? No? Well then you're totally missing out! I really think they got it right this time, with the concept, judges, and format because you can actually purchase what is on the runway!!
Here's how the show works:
There are 14 designers, 3 mentors, and 3 buyers/judges. Each week the designers are given a task and at the end of the week they present their garments in a fun-filled fashion show. During the design process the designers meet with their mentors who just happen to be; Nicole Richie, Jessica Simpson, and John Varvatos!! They each give advice on the silhouette, fabric choice, brand message, and marketability. After the runway show the buyers, which include; Caprice Willard from Macys, Terron E. Schaefer from Saks, and Nicole Christie from H&M can either purchase the garments for their store or not make an offer.

If the designers get bought then they are safe for the next week and if they receive no offers then they are in danger of elimination. The judges then pick the bottom 3, the mentors can choose one designer to save, and then the buyers make the final decision. The ultimate prize is a $6 million dollar order from all three retailers!!!

The reason why I think this show is going to be a success is because you can actually buy the clothes online or in the store the next day! It's a win-win situation; the designers get their brand out there which will open doors even if they lose, and they gain valuable knowledge about the industry from the mentors who have been very successful.

Trending Thursday's With Vicki Live

Kaptain Jimmy's Restaurant & Distillery

First off, I'd like to inform everyone that I have changed my blogging title from Thirsty Thursday's to Trending Thursdays. From here on out, I'll be telling you guys all about the hot places for dining, night life, fashion stores, trends, and anything else that is up and coming that I want to tell you guys all about!

A new restaurant that recently opened up in Agawam, MA is Kaptain Jimmy's Restaurant & Distillery, located on 916 Suffield Street in Agawam, MA.

When you walk into this restaurant you'll feel like you're in Pirates of the Carribean! All the staff members are dressed up as pirates, and the restaurant itself is painted like a treasure map! The bar also is designed to look like a pirate ship.

Here's a few quick facts about Kaptain Jimmy's you should know:

1.) Kaptain Jimmy's is the East Coast's first restaurant distillery with the ability to create handcrafted liquor on-site.

2.) The Opa Tap Bar has three masts with each mast holding 20 beer taps

3.) The restaurant is owned by the Rizos brothers who also own Opa-Opa Steakhouse and Brewery, Red Rock Pizza in Southampton, MA, Brew Master's Tavern in Williamsburg, Ma, Mullino's Trattoria, and Bishop's Lounge in Northampton, MA (http://www.gazettenet.com)

What I found appealing about the restaurant was:

-The staff members are extremely friendly
-Service is quick
-The beer is AH-mazing (especially the blueberry beer)

-The food servings are HUGE (which is probably why it's expensive)

-The tables can hold huge parties

-The restaurant has a huge floor layout plan
-Alot of bar seating, as well as TV's to watch sport games

And...you can usually find Kaptain Jimmy roaming around introducing himself!

So if you're looking for a new restaurant to check out I recommend Kaptain Jimmy's!!!

Wacky Wednesdays with Jenbiff

Colored Pants Coming Through!

Apparently spring has decided to show up a little early this year...and trust me I'm LOVING every second of it. That being said I've added some new trendy things for this spring. The first that I want to show you is the mint green pants that I got. As you know colored pants are huge this spring, so I was very excited to add these to my closet.

Sweater: H&M
Tank: Express
Pants: Rewind at Kohl's
Heels: LC by Lauren Conrad for Kohl's
Necklace and bracelet: flea market in China
Sunnies: flea market in Paris

Have you tried any new trends yet?

Quote of the Week: "After all of the stealing and cheating you probably think that
I hold resentment for you
But uh uh, oh no, you're wrong
'Cause if it wasn't for all that you tried to do, I wouldn't know
Just how capable I am to pull through
So I want to say thank you
'Cause it makes me that much stronger
Makes me work a little bit harder
It makes me that much wiser
So thanks for making me a fighter"

When Books Come to Life!

Hunger Games Update!
(photo taken from google.com)
This past weekend was the opening of the Hunger Games movie and I of course saw it.  Overall I was very happy with the movie.  There were a few things that I was a little disappointed about them changing and I thought that some of the camerawork was a bit shaky (I felt like I was watching Cloverfield and got a bit dizzy).  I would have liked them to show more of the relationship that develops between the main character, Katniss, and Rue because they had maybe three scenes together when in the book they helped each other out a lot more.  I also didn't like how they changed how Katniss got the mockingjay pin that she wears.  Other than that it was a great action movie and a great adaptation from the book!  If you've read the book then I highly recommend checking out the movie and if you haven't read it then read it first!!!

Mermaid:  A Twist On the Classic Fairy tale
Barnes and Noble overview can be found here (photo taken from google.com)
As I mentioned before I got a Nook for Christmas from my brother and his girlfriend and they loaded it with more books than I could imagine.  I found this book on it and gave it a try and really enjoyed it.  I've always wanted to read the original version by Hans Christian Andersen and since I loved the movie when I was little and this makes me want to read it more.  This version was darker than the Disney classic and takes place in a land at war where a mermaid saves a prince from freezing waters, falls in love with him, and saves his life by delivering it unknowingly to a princess in disguise who just so happens to be from his rival land.  It's almost the same basic outline as the Disney movie but like I said a bit darker and more mature.  If you're interested in this kind of book then I'd recommend giving it a go!  Mermaid:  A Twist on the Classic Fairy Tale is written by Carolyn Turgeon.

Game of Thrones
Barnes and Noble overview can be found here (photo taken from google.com)
This isn't a movie but I'm going to talk about it anyways because both the books and the show are AMAZING.  Before I even read the book or knew about the show I actually met the author, George R. R. Martin, while I was in London.  My brother is a huge fan and asked if I could swing by a book signing so off I went and met a very friendly guy who looked an awful lot like Santa...little did I know that this man was  GENIUS!  The way that he puts this medieval world together and develops the characters is simply amazing.  Game of Thrones is the first book of in his A Song of Ice and Fire series, right now there are five but I believe he's working on a few more.  The show, which can be viewed on HBO, sticks very close to the books and I'm glad that it's a series rather than a movie because the books are very long.  If it was a movie then they would have to cut out even more than they already do for the show.  I did the opposite of what I'm always saying to do and saw the show before I read the books (I know, shame on me) but it really didn't ruin it at all for me.  There were some things that I wished they put in the show after I read it but overall I think that this was another really awesome adaptation and I can't wait to see how they pull off the second book, A Clash of Kings.  The second season premiers this Sunday at 9pm on HBO!  Check out the trailer below!
Heard of any good books that are going to be made into movie?  Let me know!!!

Outfit Outtakes by Jen Bou

Maxi's

A few photos I took last week when we had awesome weather! Last spring/summer I fell in love with the maxi trend and I'm so excited it's back again. I love all of the prints, the patterns, and the bright colors. Some would call it a serious addiction, perhaps an obsession and my response: "I majored in fashion."

Top: The Limited
Skirt: shopruche.com
Belt: The Limited
Bracelets: H&M, The Big E, and China (gift from Jen Biff!)
Shoes: Bakers

Will you still be rocking the maxi trend this season?

The Gossip Corner with Stine

It's National Puppy Day!!!!
I have to admit that I previously saw this on E! News but I thought it was just too cute not to share and chat about :) There is nothing cuter to me than holding a little pup in your arms and just looking at their smushy face-melts my heart. Even though my dog, Truman is 10 years old I still call him my little baby because he sometimes acts like one. We say that he's a "Benjamin Button dog", like in the movie where Brad Pitt's character ages backwards.
Anywho, I like to look at the "Pets" section of People.com because they have pictures of celebrities and their animals. And while this may sound weird, you can tell quite a bit about a person based on their choice of pet and breed-I read it in some article on Yahoo, if I can find it I'll post next time!
Here are some pics of celebs with their dogs, I'll try to figure out what each dog says about their owner (the operative word being TRY):

Selena Gomez and Baylor

Miley Cyrus and Ziggy

Martha Stewart and Genghis Khan III: He's like "yeah I'm sittin' at the table so what?"

Ashley Olsen and ? (she has yet to release the dog's name): From the looks of it, that dog does not want to be her travel buddy

Ben Affleck and ? (can't seem to find his name either): I personally love German Shepherd's because even though they look tough and scary, they are actually a really great family dog-very protective. Which is what Ben's dog is doing in this photo, chasing away the paps.

The First Dog, Bo Obama: He certainly is livin' large in the White House!

Anne Hathaway and Esmeralda: Chocolate Labs can be a little hyper, but Anne is known to have a little wild side so it works!

I wanted to share a couple of photos of my "baby" Truman!

I did say he was a big baby!

Thirsty Thursday's With Vicki

St. Patty's Day Weekend

First off, Happy belated St. Patty's day to everyone!!! I hope just like me, you all celebrated one of my fave holidays (and I'm not even Irish!) This year even though I did have to work until 4:30, and my plans of going into Boston were cancelled, I did still enjoy the holiday with a few close friends.

For St. Patty's day this year I celebrated the holiday just by going to a party a town over from me. Nothing too crazy, but here's a sneak peak from my night:

Group Shot

My lovely Irish friend Pat!!! We loved his outfit!

Last Year for St. Patty's Day, I was still living outside of Boston for school. Since Boston clearly is one of the best places (besides Ireland obvs) to celebrate the Irish holiday, a few of my close friends and  myself made it a point to go into Boston for the day/night.

The four of us spent the day in Faneuil Hall. We bar hopped all afternoon (even though the cover charges are quite hefty!) One of my favorite places was probably Hong Kong because there were two floors with dancing, and it was only $5 to get in the door.

Here's a few snapshots we took throughout the night:

New Friend!

Some friends from school!

Besides Hong Kong a few other bars/clubs that I love going to in Faneuil Hall as well as the TD Garden area include:
-Ned Devines
-Hurricane O'reilly's
-Bell In Hand
-The Greatest Bar

There are SO many more places though that I would love to check out in the near future with the girls! I can't wait for the day until I can call Beantown my home again so I can celebrate MANY more St. Patty's Day celebrations in Boston!

And of course besides the whole bar hopping scene, I also am a big fan of attending the St. Patty's Day Parade in Boston! And next year, I hope to either attend or possibly run/walk in the Holyoke, MA St. Patty's Day Road Race! To all those who ran this year, congratulations!

So tell me! How do you like to celebrate St. Patty's Day?!?!
