Wacky Wednesday's with Jenbiff

 Oldies But Goodies, Part II

Hello again dear readers! About a month ago I wrote about a few old movies that I had recently watched. Even though I had watched quite a few of the classics that people still talk about today, there were so many more that I wanted to see. A mini-series was born! Once a month I will fill you in on what new and exciting oldies but goodies I’ve watched and let you know which are my favorites from the month.

In the last month I was able to see Mildred Pierce, An Affair to Remember, Now, Voyager, Gentlemen Prefer Blondes, Oklahoma, The Graduate, and Sabrina. This time around some of these movies aren’t as famous as others. So let me fill you in on some people you may recognize. Joan Crawford stars in Mildred Pierce, Carey Grant stars in An Affair to Remember, Marilyn Monroe stars in Gentlemen Prefer Blondes, and Audrey Hepburn stars in Sabrina. Oklahoma is well…Oklahoma (No, I'm not saying it's bad!). And The Graduate has the famous “Mrs. Robinson”.

When I first mentioned that I was going to be watching all sorts of old classics, I got tons of suggestions of things I should watch. Multiple people suggested Now, Voyager. Finally, when I was able to watch it, I discovered that Bettie Davis starred in it. Not only that, but I’ve seen part of it before! For those of you, who have seen another movie called PS I Love You; think about the scene when Holly has locked herself in her apartment watching old movies. She stopped the movie when Bettie walked onto the screen and when the camera landed on her shoes. That was a clip from Now, Voyager! Amazing. And after all of the suggestions, I totally understand why because all the fashion were absolutely remarkable. I wanted to go shopping right away…and then I remembered that we live in 2011.

I could write pages more about all the other movies I watched this month, but instead I’ll just tell you my top picks. I had a really hard time picking a top 2, so instead here are my top 3: Now, Voyager (Obviously), Sabrina, and Gentlemen Prefer Blondes. So go check them out!

Quote of the Week: "Dr. Jasquith: Remember what it says in the Bible, 'The Lord giveth and the Lord taketh away.'
Charlotte Vale: How does it feel to be the Lord?
Dr. Jasquith: Not very wonderful, since the Free Will Bill was passed. Too little power."
